Is it opening day yet? Almost!

Up-the-stairs-and-to-the-right.  That was the slogan Mormor adopted soon after it's opening last September.

Now, only 8 months later, we are quickly ticking off the days until the reopening of the shop at it's new riverside location- on Saturday!  Mormor still lives in the same building, it now just has a handy street accessible location.

We have officially added twenty three more artisans to our collection and have 800 more square feet to display them in.  Honestly, it has turned out bigger and better than we ever dreamed of when we initially decided to rent out the space.  Our original plan was to slowly expand within our new space, but the artist's interest in consignment was so great, we have already almost run out of room to exhibit all of their amazing work!

We would love everyone to stop by April 7 to take a peek at everything that we have been working on.  The store will be open from 11 AM - 8 PM, and many of our artists will be popping in and out throughout the day too.  Mormor is now home to such an array of artists and creative personnel, that we're sure you'll be able to find something special during your first gander in.

As our writer/copy editor said, "I may be bias, but it's probably one of the more unique places to check out!"  We'll be bias too, and agree!

If you don't mind, we would also like to take a moment to plug our Facebook page. If we have 100 "likes" by opening day, the 100th person, whether you're near or far, will receive a $10 gift certificate to spend on anything in the store! Share this post and our Facebook status, and help someone win!

Spread the word, and hopefully we'll see you all Saturday!

Welcome to all the new artists!

We put a few ads on craigslist, a couple of emails were sent out, and the message was spread word-of-mouth that Mormor is looking for artists to fill it's soon to be spacious area.  The response we received was incredible!  Of course we knew the local area was brimming with talent, but we were so amazed at the variety and the breadth and depth of imagination.  The latest editions to the NEW shop this April include, but are not limited to: Photography, wire jewelry, oil paintings, and girls dresses, just in time for the season!

If you're one of the new talents, thank you, and welcome to our little world!

The whole experience of Mormor itself has been so refreshing; learning that, in a world of chain stores and corporations, there are still people who are inspired and driven to sell their handmade goods. What is even more exciting, is that there are still people out there, not only willing, but who are specifically looking to purchase handmade goods.

As the transition to the new space continues, we will keep you updated with news from our new artists, progress on Margaret and Ellen's studio and anything else new & exciting!

Välkommen to Mormor

Mormor, a little shop in Shelburne Falls, MA,  is a collaboration of local artisans and a functioning studio space.  But it's also more than that. It's a treasure trove of talent, of dedication, of passion.  It harnesses inspiration, family, friendship, love, and the occasional puppy snuggle.  It offers free cider and donuts in the fall, and chocolates to curb your relentless sweet tooth during the holiday season.

In Mormor everything is handmade out of pure enjoyment of the craft.  Every item is sold so that others, too, can enjoy the beauty of the item and the art.  In Mormor casual conversations are also aplenty in it's cozy and inviting atmosphere.

The Bridge Street shop is home to handmade handbags and other sewn goods, jewelry, crochet wool hats, original paintings, watercolors, prints, drawings and more.  A list of the artists can be found on the Mormor website.

If you have handmade items in need of retail space, and are interested in a consignment opportunity, leave a comment or find us on Facebook, and don't forget to click "like"!
